The city can be specified by entering the name of the city entering the ZIP code for the city or by selecting a previously used city 1 From the Map Screen tap the OneTouch button 2 Tap the Address icon 3 Enter City You have three ways to do this e To select the city from the list of previous cities tap the mia button e To enter a new city use the keypad to enter the first few characters of any significant word in the city name At any time you can tap on the K button to bring up a list of cities that begin with the characters you entered e Toentera ZIP code Tap the 123 button to switch to the numeric keypad Enter the ZIP code Tap k to bring up a list of cities with the zip code entered Tap the city name desired from the list 4 Enter Street name With the city selected the keypad will be displayed prompting you for the street name e Use the keypad to enter the street name It is not necessary to enter accented characters for ease of use you need to use only the basic keyboard Enter the first few characters of any significant word in the street name and tap the KA or continue entering characters until the list of streets is displayed Tap k to bring up a list of streets and select the desired street from the list 5 Enter Street number Use the keypad to enter the street number for the address The range of acceptable street numbers is displayed before you start typing Tap the R when the street

5. slide your finger or a stylus across the map 811 W Olymaic B 811 W Obymoic Blvd Los Angeles CA 90015 2 The map screen changes to Pan mode Pz ews 3 When finished tap k and the map returns to your current position Routing to a Panned Position 1 Pan the map until the location you wish to route to is displayed 2 Tap on the map at the point you want to go to A red push pin will be displayed along with information about the point chosen at the top of the screen 3 Tap the LJ button in the top left corner 4 If an active route already exists first you need to define what to do with this new route point e Replace Destination the next destination is cleared and replaced with the one selected from the Pan screen eGo There Now the selected location Is inserted in the route as the next destination and the current destination follows It eAdd To Trip the selected destination is added to the end of the current trip 5 Tap the large GO button on the right to return to the Map screen and begin navigating Note if the panned position does not match an existing street address i e the destination is not along a road or street that is stored in the map database the guidance will stop on the road that is closest to your destination A dashed line to your final destination will then be displayed on the map Current Location Screen This screen can be accessed from the OneTouch menu The Current Location screen displays
6. street and number 5 The OneTouch Menu returns Changing the Home Address These instructions only apply if a home address has already been entered 1 From the Map Screen tap the OneTouch button 2 Tap Edit to enter editing mode 3 Tap the Home button 4 Using the keypad enter the desired address city street and number 5 The OneTouch menu returns Creating a Route to the Home Address 1 From the Map Screen tap the OneTouch button 2 Tap the Home button 3 The display is returned to the Map screen and Instructions for travelling to your home address are supplied 16 Traveling on a Route Map Screen When a route has been calculated it will be displayed on the Map screen in green with small arrows indicating the direction of travel The top of the screen displays the name of JAE E the street that comes next in your Turn List together with its distance If you are not in the aa city in which the next street is the name of the city is displayed instead As the route progresses voice alerts will be used to prompt you of upcoming maneuvers Maneuver List The Maneuver List displays all of the maneuvers needed to be made to complete the route and arrive at the destination To view the Maneuver List tap on the maneuver icon inthe top amp wont left corner of the Map screen The Maneuver List is described in detail in the Map chapter P as of this manual IP tos Angee Types of Routes P an Los Angeles Ther

CN Beinn Address Provides a method to enter an address as your destination This function uses QuickSpell and Smart Address Search to make address entry simple and virtually error free See the chapter on Address Entry for more information Points of Provides access to the built in POI database You can search Interest from POI categories or by entering a name See the chapter on Points of Interest Previous Select your destination from a list destinations that you have Destinations gone to Up to the last 15 destinations may be displayed Accesses the Contact Book found in your Phone or Pod touch Select your destination from the intersection of two streets Return Select your home address that you have entered into the Home application as your destination If you have not entered your home address you will be prompted to do so City Center Enter a city name and get directions the center of the city you entered A Saved Trips Allows the selection of trips you ve saved Emergency Quickly create a route to a car repair facility police stations or hospitals Also you can get information on your current location to assist in providing emergency services with your precise location x Settings Access the user settings portion of the Magellan RoadMate application OneTouch Menu The OneTouch menu is accessible from the Map screen and comes preloaded with seven searches You can easily add your own addresses or searches and prov
8. list on a city from the displayed list to accept that city Numeric Displays a numeric keypad that can be used to enter streets or Keypad cities that have numbers in their name This is not to be used for entering an address number Entering City Accepts the suggested city that is displayed in the data field Entering street Brings up a list of streets beginning with the characters entered Selecting From List Tap on the desired item in the list to continue Notes on Entering Data If you are having trouble getting the results you expected here are a few useful tips e Check for apostrophes and hyphens If you do not see the POI or street name you are looking for in the list check to see if the name has an apostrophe or hyphen e The more characters you enter the smaller the list of possible options is from which to choose e When entering a street or city name it Is not necessary to use accented letters You can enter city and streets names using only standard characters QuickSpell Another feature the Magellan RoadMate application has to make entering cities and streets easier is a feature known as QuickSpell In the example to the right PAS has been entered for a city The Magellan RoadMate application has predicted that the city name may be Pasadena Also it has greyed out any letters that could not be used to spell a city name in the database This provides quick and error free city and street name entry

E AGELLAN SN us ARES Magellan 2010 North America Application User Manual MiTAC Digital Corporation 471 El Camino Real Santa Clara CA 95050 USA www magellanGPS com IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS The Magellan RoadMate application is a vehicle navigation aid designed to assist you in arriving at your selected destinations When using the Magellan RoadMate application these safety rules must be followed to prevent accidents that can result in injury or death to yourself or others e Please check the applicable regulations in your state regarding windshield mounting Certain states prohibit the mounting of any items on your windshield Go to www magellanGPS com for alternative mounting solutions e When driving the need to view the display is minimal Voice prompts will guide you to your destination The driver should enter data or program the Magellan RoadMate application only when the vehicle is stationary Only a vehicle passenger should enter data or program the Magellan RoadMate application while the vehicle is moving Do not become distracted by the application while driving and always be fully aware of all driving conditions e t is your responsibility to comply with all traffic laws and to use mounting options in such a manner that the user is in compliance with applicable laws e Roads points of interest POIs business and service locations may change over time As a result the database may contain inaccuracy

S signals from the satellites Reminder the Magellan Premium Car Kit must have power applied to receive GPS information when using an iPod touch This is especially important to note if you are in a garage or other overhanging structure If you find you are not getting strong enough satellite signals while in a garage or other structure move to a location where there is a clear view of the sky and you should immediately see an improvement in signal strength This document is set up to be printed on 8 5 x 11 paper should you desire a printed version for your reference Fundamentals Powering on the Magellan RoadMate application Select the Magellan RoadMate application from the iPhone iPod touch main screen After the application initializes the Map screen is displayed The application begins looking for GPS signals from your iPhone or iPod touch if used with the Magellan Premium Car Kit and the cradle is being powered on Once the application has enough GPS information it will display the map with your current position indicated by the blue triangle cursor Tips for getting GPS signals If you are not getting a position fix in a few minutes you may try these few tips to help acquire the GPS signals e Move outside and away from buildings that could be blocking the GPS signal e Trees especially after a rainy day can decrease GPS signal strength causing the time to first fix to increase Move out from under any trees and give the devi
12. ailable only when routing Each line in the Maneuver List provides details about the maneuvers in the order that they SP suse eave are to be made with the next maneuver at the top pw Arow ty Accessing the Maneuver List 1 When actively following a route tap the maneuver icon in the top left corner of the JA gt w Los anges Map screen o Routing Options Music Player The music player is accessed from the Map screen and provides the means of playing preloaded music while navigating One thing to note is that you need to add the songs from your Phone or Pod touch to the Music Player before you can play music from within the application 1 From the Map screen access the Music Player by tapping the Music icon 2 At the bottom of the Music Player screen tap the Playlist button to access songs you have stored in you iPhone or Pod touch 3 Select the songs and tap the Done button to continue 4 The Music Player is displayed again and you can now play the songs you added Enter Address If you know at least a part of the address it is the quickest way to select the destination of the route This function is used to create a route from e an exact address including street number e the midpoint of a street e an intersection e any of the above starting the search with the ZIP code or e the center of a city Entering an Address When creating an address the first step is to indicate which city the address Is in

14. ce a clear view of the sky e f you are using an iPod touch with the Magellan Premium Car Kit try reseating the iPod in the cradle and checking the power connection Note that some vehicle power receptacles are powered only when the vehicle ignition is on The Map Screen The Map screen allows you to view your current position indicated by the blue triangle and the surrounding area You can change how much of the map is shown by using the zoom in and zoom out controls JE gt o Overland Ct The Map screen also displays an information field in the lower left corner When you are not routing the information field displays the current time of day However when you have an active route you can set the information field to display distance to destination time remaining until you arrive at your destination time of day that you will arrive at your destination current elevation current time of day current speed and direction of travel You can access the Main menu or the OneTouch menu by the buttons located at the bottom of the screen Detailed information about the Map screen can be found in the following chapter of this user manual Main Menu The Main Menu screen is the center for all available functions of the Magellan RoadMate application The Main Menu contains large easy to access icons for all the major functions Accessing the Main Menu 1 From the Map screen tap Menu Buttons on the Main Menu Screen CN

17. e are a wide variety of methods you can use to create a route Each method is discussed is in the chapter which is associated with it Routing Method Regardless of which route type has been created the Magellan RoadMate application needs to know how the route is to be calculated Routes can be calculated by the following methods e Fastest Time Fast the fastest possible route provided the vehicle is able to travel at or near the speed limit e Shortest Distance Short the shortest possible route e Most Use of Freeway e Least Use of Freeway When a destination is selected the Magellan RoadMate application offers the route with the default selected routing method first 1 To change the routing method tap Options The Magellan RoadMate application calculates the route with different methods 2 Tap on the icon to view the maneuver list for the route method desired 3 Tap the desired routing method in the list and the previous screen returns with the new calculation To permanently change the routing method 1 From the Main Menu tap the Settings icon 2 Tap Navigation Preferences 3 Use the Route Method to select the default routing method desired Cancelling a Route 1 From the Map screen tap Menu or the OneTouch button 2 On the Main Menu tap the cancel route KJ icon 3 Confirm that you want to cancel the route Tap Yes 17 Settings With user Settings you can customize the Magellan RoadMate applicati

20. g a Route to a POI by Category POls are categorized into unique categories from gas stations to tourist attractions Most but not all categories are further organized into subcategories Restaurants have for example several subcategories that provide a way to search for restaurants serving Chinese food fast food or other favorites l Tap the Points of Interest icon om 0 N From the Map Screen tap the OneTouch button Tap Search By Category Tap one of the POI categories in the list e g Gas If the next screen contains a list of subcategories tap one of the POI subcategories in the list to further narrow the search or tap ALL SUBCATEGORIES to see the list of all POIs from the selected main POI category POls near your current position are displayed You can tap Near for different search criteria Near Current Position Near City or Near Address 7 If you select Near City or Near Address you will need to enter the city or address information 8 A list of POIs that met your search criteria is displayed Select the POI desired from the list of POIs 9 Ascreen appears with the address of the selected location the estimated time of arrival ETA the distance to travel and the routing method e g Fast 10 optional Tap Options if you want to change the routing method 11 Tap the large GO button on the right to return to the Map screen and start navigating Creating a Route to a POI by Name
21. i From the Map Screen tap the OneTouch button 2 Tap the Points of Interest icon 3 4 Spell the name of the POI to be used as the destination You need not enter the full name but the more Tap Search By Name characters you enter the easier it will be to find the exact POI you are searching for Tap the K POIs near your current position are displayed You can tap Near for different search criteria Near Current Position Near City or Near Address 6 If you select Near City or Near Address you will need to enter the city or address information 8 9 A list of POIs that met your search criteria is displayed Select the POI desired from the list of POIs Tap the KK The list of matching POI names appear Tap on the selected POI and then tap the KA 10 A screen appears with the address of the selected location the estimated time of arrival ETA the distance to travel and the routing method e g Fast 11 optional Tap Options if you want to change the routing method 12 Tap the large GO button on the right to return to the Map screen and start navigating 14 15 Creating a Route to a Highway Exit POI The Highway Exit POIs function provides a way of accessing commonly used POIs that are near an exit you are approaching while travelling on a highway Highway Exit POIs include restaurants gas stations car repair facilities and hotels Freeway Exit POIs can be accessed while on a route or
22. iPhone Here are few simple notes about using the iPhone to make or answer calls while the application is running Answering a Call e f you reject the call the application automatically resumes e f you answer the call the application automatically closes Making a Call e Close the application by accessing the iPhone home button and make the call normally Calling a PO e While viewing a list of POIs or POI information screen tap the phone icon The Magellan RoadMate application closes Navigating during a Call e f you want to continue getting navigation information while on a call restart the application during the call e To return to the Call screen tap the green bar displayed at the top of the application screen Note this closes the application Ending a Call e After a call is ended if you didn t restart the application during the call you will need to restart it after the call has been ended e f you restarted the application there are two possible outcomes If you ended the call you will need to restart the application 1 If the other person ended the call the application will continue operating normally 1 Note if using a Bluetooth device headset or Magellan Premium Car Kit you can end the call through the Bluetooth device and the application will continue operating normally Map Screen The most commonly used screen is the Map screen Whether you are following a route or just traveling ar
