Console Wire 8 Setthe console assembly on the brackets on the Left and Right Uprights 88 not shown Be Console careful not to pinch any wires Assembly Attach the console assembly with four 5 16 x 1 1 4 Patch Screws 4 and four 5 16 Star Washers 11 only one side is shown Start all Bracket four Patch Screws but do not tighten them until assembly step 12 is completed Insert the excess Upright Wire 77 into the hole in the console assembly Tighten the ties around the Upright Wire and cut off the ends of the ties 10 9 Identify the Left and Right Handrails 81 82 With the help of a second person attach the Handrails to the Pulse Bar Bottom 87 with four 3 8 x 3 4 Patch Screws 9 Start all four Patch Screws and then tighten each of them 10 With the help of a second person hold the Pulse Bar Top 86 near the Pulse Bar Bottom 87 Insert the pulse wire from the Pulse Bar Top into the hole in the top of the Pulse Bar Bottom and pull it out of the hole in the Pulse Bar Bottom Attach the Pulse Bar Top 86 to the Pulse Bar Bottom 87 with two 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 and six 8 x 1 2 Screws 1 in the locations shown Be careful not to pinch the pulse wire Start all eight Screws and then tighten each of them 11 11 With the help of a second person hold the Left and Right Handrails 81 82 near the Base 91 Insert the lower ends o
3. b Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in Remove the key from the console and then reinsert it If the treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console a The console features a display demo mode de signed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the screen shows a preset presentation when you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode see step 6 on page 28 SYMPTOM The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Remove the five 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 and carefully pivot the Motor Hood 18 off 33 Locate the Reed Switch 55 and the Magnet 54 on the left side of the Pulley 53 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Tek Screw 80 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM The incline of the treadmill does no

If the chest pulse sensor is not dried after each use it 16 may remain activated longer than necessary drain ing the battery prematurely Store the chest pulse sensor in a warm dry place Do not store the chest pulse sensor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the chest pulse sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 C Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor unit when using or storing the chest pulse sensor Clean the sensor unit using a damp cloth never use alcohol abrasives or chemicals The chest strap may be hand washed and air dried TROUBLESHOOTING The instructions on the following pages explain how the chest pulse sensor is used with the con sole If the chest pulse sensor does not function properly try the steps below Make sure that you are wearing the chest pulse sen sor as described at the left Note If the chest pulse sensor does not function when positioned as de scribed move it slightly lower or higher on your chest Use saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor unit If heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiring rewet the electrode areas As you walk or run on the treadmill position your self near the center of the walking belt For the console to display heart rate readings the
6. create your own workouts track your workout results and access many other features See www iFit com for complete information In addition the console features twenty eight onboard workouts seven calories workouts seven intensity workouts seven speed workouts and seven incline workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective exercise session When you use the manual mode you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display instant exercise feedback You can also measure your heart rate using the handgrip pulse sensor or the chest pulse sensor see page 16 for information on the chest pulse sensor 18 You can even browse the Internet or listen to your fa vorite workout music or audio books with the console s stereo sound system while you exercise To turn on the power see page 19 To set up the console see page 19 To use the manual mode see page 20 To use the cool down mode see page 22 To use an onboard workout see page 23 To use an iFit Live workout see page 24 To use the Internet browser see page 26 To use the settings mode see page 27 To use the maintenance mode see page 29 To use the stereo sound system see page 31 Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find which unit of mea surement is selected see step

However when you remove the key the screen will show a demo presentation To turn on or turn off the display demo mode first touch the Demo Mode button Next touch the On checkbox or the Off checkbox Then touch the home button on the screen Exit the settings mode To exit the settings mode touch the home button on the screen HOW TO USE THE MAINTENANCE MODE The console features a maintenance mode that allows you to calibrate the incline and speed of the treadmill update the console firmware calibrate the screen view technical information and perform a network test 1 Select the settings mode See step 1 on page 27 Select the maintenance mode Touch the Maintenance button in the lower right corner of the screen to enter the maintenance mode 251 The maintenance mode main screen will show information about the model and version of the treadmill If the console is connected to the con troller of the treadmill the controller dot will be green if it is not the dot will flash If the treadmill is connected to your wireless network the network dot will be green if it is not the dot will be black Calibrate the incline system of the treadmill Touch the Calibrate Incline button Then touch the Begin button to calibrate the incline system The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum in cline level lower to the minimum incline level and 29 then return to the starting position This wi

INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 130 125 115 118 110 103 Y 105 95 90 20 30 40 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 36 Burning Fat burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohyarate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform a

Workout button Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your weight In addi tion if you manually change the speed or in cline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected Monitor your progress See step 5 on page 21 The screen can also show a profile of the speed and incline settings of the workout Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 22 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 22 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 22 HOW TO USE ANIFIT LIVE WORKOUT Note To use an iFit Live workout you must have ac cess to a wireless network including an 802 1 1b n router with SSID broadcast enabled hidden networks are not supported An iFit com membership is also re quired Insert the key into the console See step 1 on page 20 2 24 Log in to iFit com If you have not already done so log in to your iFit com account see step 3 on page 28 Select the main menu See step 2 on page 20 Select an iFit Live workout Touch the Workouts button on the screen To se lect an iFit Live workout touch the iFit Live button and select the type of workout You can also press one of the iFit Live buttons on the console To switch users within the account touch the user button
10. box Select text After you touch the Select Text button drag your finger along the screen to select text The selected text will be copied to the clipboard in the con sole memory To paste the text touch and hold a text box and then touch the Paste button Page info Information about the current page will be displayed Touch the OK button to return to the browser Share page This feature is not enabled Downloads A list of all the files you have down loaded will be displayed Settings The browser settings will be displayed Drag your finger up or down the screen to scroll through the settings If there is a checkbox touch the checkbox to turn the feature on or off If there is a tri angle touch the triangle to view a list of options and touch the desired option To restore the default browser settings select RESET TO DEFAULT at the bottom of the list and touch the OK button To view the keyboard touch a text box on the screen See step 2 on page 27 for instructions about how to use the keyboard To enter a different web address in the URL bar first slide your finger down the screen to view the URL bar if necessary Then touch the URL bar use the key board to enter the address and touch the Go button Note While you are using the browser the speed in cline fan and volume buttons will still function but the workout buttons will not function If it is difficult to touch the buttons see step
11. on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Make sure that the audio wire is fully plugged in Next press the Play button on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Then adjust the volume level on your personal audio player or press the Vol increase and decrease buttons on the console If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat sur face instead of on the console Note The USB port on the side of the console is for firmware updates only 31 HOW TO ADJUST THE CUSHIONING SYSTEM Remove the key from the console and unplug the power cord The treadmill features a cushioning sys tem that reduces the impact as you walk or run on the treadmill To increase the firmness of the walking plat form step off the treadmill and slide the platform cush ions toward the front of the treadmill To decrease the firmness step off the treadmill and slide the platform cushions toward the back of the treadmill Note Make sure that both cushions are set at the same firm ness level The faster you run on the treadmill or the more you weigh the firmer the walking plat form should be Platform Cushion Platform Cushion HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the to zero percent before you

14. user must be within arm s length of the console The chest pulse sensor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contrac tions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the chest pulse sensor can be affected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources If you suspect that this is a problem try relocating the treadmill OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor in creases the risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are unsure whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet in stalled by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like other electronic equipment can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power To decrease the risk of damaging your treadmill always use a surge suppressor with your treadmill see drawing 1 at the right To purchase a surge suppressor see precaution 12 on page 3 Use only a s
15. 5 on page 28 For sim plicity all instructions in this manual refer to miles IMPORTANT If there are sheets of plastic on the console remove the plastic To prevent damage to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time you use the treadmill observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if necessary see page 35 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before you turn on the power If you do not do this you may damage the console display or other electrical components Plug in the power cord see page 17 Next locate the power switch on the treadmill N frame near the power cord O Make sure that the switch is Reset in the reset position IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the demo mode is turned on the display will show a demo presentation after you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position before you insert the key To turn off the demo mode see step 6 on page 28 Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Locate the clip at tached to the key and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your clothes Then in sert the key into the console IMPORTANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the

19. ame by the plastic foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your legs and keep your back straight To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C 32 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The power does not turn on a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 17 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 17 IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compati ble with GFCl equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCl equipped outlets b After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console c Check the power switch located on the treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the switch has tripped To reset the power switch wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Tripped SYMPTOM The power turns off during use a Check the power switch see the drawing above If the switch has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in

37. lking belt see pages 34 and 35 15 HOW TO USE THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR HOW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR The chest pulse sensor consists of two components the chest strap and the sensor unit Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor unit as shown in the inset drawing Press the end of the sensor unit under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor unit Sensor Unit Next wrap the chest pulse sensor around your chest and attach the other end of the chest strap to the sensor unit Adjust the length of the chest strap if neces sary The chest pulse sensor should be under your clothes tight against your skin and as high under the pectoral muscles or breasts as is comfortable Make sure that the logo on the sensor unit is facing forward and is right side up Pull the sensor unit away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas on the inner side the electrode areas are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens so lution wet both electrode areas Return the sensor unit to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE Thoroughly dry the chest pulse sensor after each use The chest pulse sensor is activated when the electrode areas are wetted and the chest pulse sen Sor is put on the chest pulse sensor shuts off when itis removed and the electrode areas are dried

48. t change correctly a Recalibrate the incline system see step 3 on page 29 SYMPTOM The iFit Live mode does not function correctly a If the iFit Live mode is not functioning correctly make sure that the treadmill has the most current firmware available see step 6 on page 29 SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a C 34 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 17 If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has sh
49. t rate accu rately For information about the chest pulse sen Sor see page 16 Before using the handgrip pulse sensor remove the sheets of plas tic from the metal contacts on the pulse bar In addi tion make sure that your hands are clean To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the pulse bar with your palms on the metal contacts for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds Turn on the fan if desired The fan features several speed settings Press the Fan increase or decrease button to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan Note If the fan is on when the walking belt is stopped the fan will turn off automatically after a few minutes 22 8 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to zero per cent The incline must be at zero percent or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage position Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely THE COOL DOWN MODE To sel
