3. washing the appliance wipe over the area that you have cleaned with a damp cloth and then dry it thoroughly o When cleaning is complete dry your hands and then reconnect the plug to your mains supply 15 Defrosting the ER A freezer Over a period of time or if for example the door is left open for a prolonged period of time or the door gasket is not sealing correctly then you could get ice building in the freezer section If this occurs then you should follow the steps below O Whilst defrosting the appliance the food should be removed from the compartment and wrapped in several layers of paper and stored in a cool place The foods rise in temperature will shorten its Storage life and therefore the food should be used within a relatively short period of time DO NOT PLACE FOOD BACK IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT THAT HAS STARTED TO THAW Turn the appliance off by turning off the power supply to the freezer Remove the drawers from the freezer and leave the door open You can place a bowl of warm water inside the freezer to speed up the defrost process You can use a sponge to mop up the defrost water that will run into the bottom of the freezer IMPORTANT You should place some old towels on the flooring that is immediately in front of the appliance In case any defrost water comes out of the freezer and onto the floor Once all the ice that has built up has melted then the inside of the freezer should be dri

Check that the door opens and shuts correctly without fouling after you have completed the door reversal process 19 After the door has been reversed you should check the door seal of the appliance The seal should not be creased or crushed otherwise there will be a gap between it and the inside of the door o The seal must adhere properly all the way around the door o If the seal is not adhering to the cabinet properly then you Should either 1 Use a warm damp cloth and manipulate the seal until it does adhere to the cabinet properly all the way around the door OR 2 Use a hair dryer on its lowest heat setting and lightly heat the areas of the door seal that are not adhering correctly The heat will make the seal more pliable and this will allow you to manipulate the seal into the correct position IMPORTANT DO NOT HEAT THE DOOR SEAL ON ANYTHING BUT THE LOWEST HEAT SETTING OR HEAT THE SEAL FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME OTHERWISE DAMAGE MAY BE CAUSED TO THE DOOR SEAL WHICH WOULD NOT BE RECTIFIED UNDER THE GUARANTEE FREE OF CHARGE IMPORTANT WHEN YOU HAVE REVERSED THE DOOR OF THE APPLIANCE IF YOU HAVE TILTED THE APPLIANCE BACKWARDS YOU MUST WAIT FOR 8 HOURS BEFORE SWITCHING THE APPLIANCE BACK ON Positioning o It is advisable that your appliance is only installed in a location where the ambient temperature of the room corresponds with the climate classification that is stated on the rating plate of your a

6. at or reconnecting it to your mains supply Control panel CL AN E gt ll OFF MAX Power Temperature rise Compressor Thermostat control Green Light Red Light Yellow Light o GREEN light This will turn on when the appliance has power o RED light This is the temperature rise warning light This will come on if the internal temperature of the appliance rises above acceptable levels If this light comes on you should check that the drawers and door are closing properly and the thermostat is set to an appropriate level o YELLOW light This indicates that the compressor is running The compressor should only run continuously when the appliance has been turned on for the first time or after a power cut or if the thermostat has been turned to max Generally the compressor will cycle on and off in order to maintain a constant temperature NOTE If after 1 hour of ensuring that the door drawers are properly closed the temperature of the freezer is not falling below 12 C and or the warning light ts still illuminated you should contact customer services Switching on the appliance and setting the thermostat o You switch on your appliance by connecting it to your mains supply and setting the thermostat o The thermostat automatically regulates the temperature inside the freezer depending on what you have the thermostat set to o It is recommended that the control dial is positioned midway between l

9. e allowed to cool down before you attempt to freeze it If you place warm food in the freezer section then the increased humidity will cause quicker ice formation and increase the amount of power that the appliance uses Do not open the freezer door too often or leave the door open for long periods of time as this will increase the temperature inside of the appliance and will increase the energy usage The guidance of the food manufacturer should be followed in regard to the maximum storage time Thawed foods must not be frozen for a second time If power is cut to your appliance DO NOT open the door to the freezer Your freezer will store food safely for approximately 21 hours 11 O IMPORTANT If the food has started to defrost before power is restored then DO NOT re freeze the items The food should be used within a relatively short period of time Freezing fresh food O O O Fresh food should be packed into airtight containers or packaging This will help to make sure that the food doesn t dry out or lose its flavour It will also ensure that flavour does not transfer from other foods Do not allow fresh food to touch items that are already frozen Chill fresh food in a fridge before freezing if possible Tips on freezing O Freezer bags polythene wraps aluminium foil extra thick and Special cans for frozen foods are suitable packaging for storing frozen goods in Tape rubber bands or plast
10. e is appropriate My freezer is noisy O o The refrigerant gas that circulates the pipework of the appliance may make a slight noise even if the compressor is not running o If the noise worsens or the appliance gets louder than normal check that it is levelled off correctly that nothing is touching the rear of the freezer and that nothing placed inside the appliance is rattling Zz Excessive frost and ice has built up in the freezer Q O Make sure that the door is not left open for prolonged periods of time Check there is nothing preventing the door from closing correctly and that the door gasket is clean and intact It is normal for frost to build up over a period of time and when this happens you should follow the Defrosting the freezer instructions on page 16 The freezer door will not open O O If the door has recently been opened and closed you must wait for a few minutes before attempting to open the door again to allow the air pressure to equalise D The compressor runs continuously O Make sure that the thermostat is set to the midway position If the appliance is set to the lt MAX gt setting the compressor will work harder to maintain a lower temperature inside the freezer Check that the freezer door is closed correctly and that the door gasket is intact If large quantities of food have recently been placed in the freezer or the door is frequently opened the compressor will work h
11. e the appliance If you are unsure of any of the information contained in this booklet please contact the Baumatic Customer Care Department SS W IMPORTANT Any installation work must be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person Use of the appliance o Your appliance is only designed to be used in the 4 home It is suitable for storing food that needs to be frozen If it is used for any other purpose or it is not used correctly then Baumatic Ltd will accept no liability for any damage that is caused RAAM o Altering the specification of the appliance must not be attempted for reasons of safety o The lighting of this appliance is not suitable for room illumination Before using your appliance o Check the appliance for any signs of transport damage If you notice any damage then you should not connect your appliance to your mains supply and should contact your retailer Refrigerant o Your appliance contains R600a refrigerant which is a natural gas that does not contain CFCs that can damage the environment However it is a flammable substance therefore care should be taken During the transportation and installation of the appliance make sure that the refrigeration pipework does not get damaged f it does become damaged then sources of ignition and open flames should be avoided Also the room that the appliance is situated in should be thoroughly ventilated o Do not place any
12. ed thoroughly Failure to do this will result in immediate ice build up when the appliance is turned back on With dry hands reconnect your appliance to your mains supply You Should select thermostat position lt MAX gt for a 24 hour period before returning it to the temperature setting midway between lt MIN gt and lt MAX gt You should not attempt to freeze fresh food inside the freezer compartment until this 24 hour time period has elapsed Do not defrost the appliance with other electrical devices e g hair dryer Do not use sharp metal objects to remove the ice on the freezer as this could cause damage to the refrigerant system 16 Installation IMPORTANT Before installation and usage read all the instructions and make sure that the voltage V and the frequency Hz indicated on the rating plate are exactly the same as the voltage and frequency in your home The rating plate can be found behind the freezer drawers The manufacturer declines all responsibility in the event of the installer failing to observe all the accident prevention regulations in force which are necessary for normal use and the regular operation of the electric system Electrical connection YOUR FREEZER IS INTENDED FOR FITTED AND PERMANENT INSTALLATION We recommend that the appliance is connected by a qualified electrician who is a member of the N 1I C E 1 C and who will comply with the E E and local regulations o Your fre
13. ezer comes supplied with a 13 amp plug fitted If in future you need to change the fuse in this plug then a 13 amp ASTA approved BS 1362 fuse must be used o The wiring in the mains lead is coloured as follows Brown Live Blue Neutral Green and yellow Earth o As the colours of the wires in the appliance s mains lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your spur box please proceed as follows The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L live or coloured red The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N neutral or coloured black The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal marked E earth or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow o When the connection is completed no stray strands or cut wire Should be present The cord clamp must be secured over the outer sheath 17 Reversing the door swing IMPORTANT BEFORE COMMENCING THE DOOR REVERSAL PROCESS THE APPLIANCE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY o We suggest that two people complete the door reversal process o We recommend that the door reversal process is done before the appliance is placed in its final position o Retain all screws caps and accessories that you remove for later use To change the door opening direction please follow the instructions below 1 Switch off the appliance and unplug it Remove all contents and Shelv
14. ic clips are suitable for sealing bags and wrappings Before sealing a suitable bag you should compress the air out of it as this will help the food to freeze more easily Flat packages freeze more easily o If you are freezing liquid then do not fill the container to the brim Liquids will expand when being frozen o Do not place bottles glass or tin containing liquids especially sparkling liquids into the freezer as they could cause the bottle to burst during freezing Storing commercially frozen food O The storage time and recommended temperature for storing commercially frozen foods are indicated on the packaging Always follow the manufacturer s instructions for storage and use of frozen food 12 o When shopping be careful to choose food which is adequately packed and is provided with complete storage instructions It should have been stored in a freezer where the temperature does not rise above 18 C o Do not buy packages of food that are covered with frost This could indicate that the package has thawed at least once before o Take care that your frozen food packages do not start to thaw before you place them in your freezer This will shorten the length of time that you can safely store the food for Defrosting frozen food o Partially thawed or defrosted foods should be used as soon as possible o Cold air preserves the food but it does not destroy the micro organisms which rapidly activate
15. ing 2 Tilt the appliance backwards by no more than 45 You may find it easier to lay the appliance on its back however you will need to let the appliance stand for 6 hours before turning it on should you do this 3 Remove the feet from the bottom of the appliance and then remove the lower hinge by unscrewing the 6 securing screws 4 Pull the door downwards towards the bottom of the appliance releasing the top of the door from the top hinge pin 18 5 Remove the door Remove the hinge pin hole cap from the top of the door and insert it into the existing hinge pin hole in the opposite side thus exposing the new hinge pin hole and covering the old hole 1 if Li 6 Unscrew the plastic hinge pin receiver from the bottom of the door and relocate it to the opposite side There are pilot groves for the screws on the opposite side 7 Place the door somewhere safe from damage 8 Unscrew the hinge pin from the top of the appliance and relocate it to the opposite side 9 Reposition the door back onto the appliance slotting the door onto the hinge pin protruding from the top of the appliance 10 Insert the lower hinge pin into the bottom of the door and secure the lower hinge bracket to the appliance using the original screws 11 You can then re attach the appliance feet and stand the appliance back to it s upright position NOTE Ensure that all screws have been tightened securely IMPORTANT

18. ppliance Your appliance may not function correctly if the ambient temperature falls outside of the following ranges Climate classification Appropriate ambient temperature SN O O 10 to 32 degrees centigrade OOOO No O O 16 to 32 degrees centigrade 18 to 38 degrees centigrade 18 to 43 degrees centigrade o Positioning the appliance requires two people in order to avoid injuries or damage to the appliance 20 Keep a minimum of 50 mm between your freezer and the back wall There should also be a gap of 25 mm either side and 50 mm clear space above the freezer If there is insufficient space this can create the sound of vibration weakening of the appliance s power and a waste of electricity The appliance should never be placed upside down or carried in a horizontal position Your appliance should not be located in direct sunlight or exposed to continuous heat or extremes of temperature e g next to a radiator or boiler If this is not possible then you Should install an insulation plate between the appliance and the adjacent heat source You should check whether there is an electrical socket available which will be accessible after your appliance is installed Place the appliance flatly and firmly on a solid base The appliance is fitted with adjustable feet on the front side which can be used to level the appliance If the front of the appliance is positioned slightly higher than the rear the door can be opened
19. t MIN gt and lt MAX gt as shown in the diagram above after the 24 hour cooling period You should use a suitable thermometer to check the temperature after 2 hours to ensure the freezer is below 18 C 10 E IMPORTANT The ambient temperature of the room the temperature of food and the amount of food that has been placed in the freezer and how often the door is opened will all affect the temperature being maintained by the appliance gg bh On the maximum setting lt MAX gt your freezer will work harder to maintain a lower temperature and will increase the energy usage There is no need to run your appliance at this setting for prolonged periods Unless you are freezing fresh food you should have the thermostat set midway between lt MIN gt and lt MAX gt If the unit is switched off or unplugged you must allow at least 5 minutes before restarting the appliance or reconnecting it to your mains supply Storing food in the freezer The freezer is suitable for storing and freezing food O The freezer temperature must have already reached 18 degrees centigrade or lower before you attempt to store food that is already frozen or freezing fresh food The freezer is only able to freeze a certain quantity of food at one time You should not attempt to freeze more than 15 kilograms of fresh food within a 24 hour period Any of the drawers can be used for freezing various foods Warm food should b
20. t too low A change of just one degree can effect the energy consumption by 5 Use a thermometer to check the temperature o The freezer compartment should operate at 15 to 18 degrees Celsius o Allow food to sufficiently cool before putting it in the appliance but don t let it sit at room temperature for too long o In the freezer food packages should be scattered and never grouped or stacked together until they are completely frozen o If you are going away for a long period of time turn off the appliance empty and clean it and leave the door ajar o If you have a second appliance that is not used make sure that it is Stored with the power off and the door left ajar until it is actually required 14 Disposing o If you re going to throw out your old freezer see if there s a chlorofluorocarbons CFCs recycler in your area The government department which looks after the environment in your area may be able to help you Cleaning and maintenance WARNING PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN IT o Do not clean the appliance by pouring water onto it or spraying water over it o The freezer should be cleaned periodically using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water o Clean the accessories separately with soap and water Do not clean them in a dishwasher o Do not use abrasive products detergents or soaps o After

22. themselves after defrosting and make foods perishable o Partial defrosting reduces the nutritional value of food especially fruits vegetables and readymade meals Normal operating noises Ice cracking noise o Can be caused by expansion and contraction within the freezer Short cracking noise o Can be heard when the thermostat turns the compressor on and off Compressor noise o There will be an operating noise when the compressor is running o After installation the compressor may be noisier for a short period of time Bubbling and burbling sound o This noise is emitted as the coolant flows through the pipework within the freezer 13 Saving energy when using your freezer Installing o Install the appliance in a cool position If it is placed in direct Sunlight or next to an oven or other heat source the energy consumption can increase substantially o Ensure the appliance is installed with the correct ventilation requirements Restricting ventilation can increase the energy consumption by 15 Cleaning and Maintenance o Occasionally clean the condenser coils if present at the back of the appliance to maintain a high performance level o Clean the door gasket with warm water or a neutral detergent that leaves no residue A tight sealing door gasket is critical to the efficiency of your appliance Usage o Do not open the door repeatedly or more frequently than you have to o Do not set the thermosta
23. y wait for eight hours before connecting the appliance to your mains supply This will allow any refrigerant gasses that may have been disturbed during the transportation process to settle o The outside of the appliance and the removable accessories contained within it should be cleaned with a solution of liquid detergent and water o The interior of the appliance should be cleaned with a solution of sodium bicarbonate dissolved in lukewarm water The interior and accessories should be thoroughly dried after the cleaning process has been completed o There can be an odour when you first switch on the appliance It will lessen as the appliance starts to cool During first use o When you first switch on the appliance the compressor will run continuously for approximately 24 hours or until the freezer reaches a cool enough temperature o With dry hands connect your appliance to your mains supply Set the thermostat dial to the highest position lt MAX gt for a 24 hour period before placing food in the freezer drawers o During this period of time you should try not to open the door frequently or place a large amount of food within the appliance o It is strongly recommended that you use a freezer thermostat to check that the temperature in the freezer is below 18 C before loading any food into it o If the unit is switched off or unplugged you must allow at least 5 minutes before restarting the appliance on the thermost
