16. inted North STEP 6 Antenna Cable Installation After connecting the antenna lead in to the antenna fasten it to the antenna mast using stand off insulators sold separately as shown approximately every four feet Be sure to provide a generous loop of cable at the rotator unit to allow the antenna to rotate a full turn Use nylon wire ties or tape the rotator unit 5 Operation and Installation Ground outside conductors through static discharge unit Silver or wide wire Prepare cable as shown using cut and strip guide on bottom of control IMPORTANT Number terminal on the rotator unit and control units must be properly connected to each other as must terminal 2 and 3 Improper connection will result in incorrect operation or permanent damage control cable directly to the support mast using good quality electrical tape sold separately NOTE See Step I of the Important Safeguards Sheet enclosed in your package for Grounding of Control Cable and Lead in Cable for Lightning Protection STEP 7 Control Unit Connection Prepare the end of the control cable as shown Separate leads 1 2 and strip off 1 4 insulation Run the cable through the strain relief channel on the under side of the control unit Find the silver or wide jacketed lead and connect it to terminal Connect the adjacent lead to terminal 2 and the next lead to termi nal 3 If 4 wire cable is used connect both wire 3 and 4 to ter
17. mand sequence is finished the unit shuts off automatically and draws no current until activated by a remote or manual com mand to the control unit Cast Nose of Housing Mast Support Lower Clamp Guy Wires Drive Unit Wire to 2 Terminal Silver or Wide Wire to 1 Fig 2 Antenna Mast Length 12 30 Rij Operating and Installation Instructions TIP While you are still on the ground and before mounting the rotator unit to the support mast temporarily connect the rotator unit to the control unit with the control cable and perform the alignment and basic system check by follow ing Steps 2 and 5 and 8 below Step Rotator Unit Mounting If not mounting the rotator unit inside a tower attach the the rotator unit to the support mast by loosening the nuts enough to slide the clamps over the mast Lower the rotator unit until the cast nose of the drive housing sits on top of the support mast and tighten the nuts Moderate tightening of the nuts with a 7 16 wrench will cause the teeth of the clamp to grip the mast securely DO NOT over tighten to the point that you deform the mast as this will reduce its strength Mast Diameters of 1 4 to 2 3 5cm may be used The 1 2 3 8 cm size or larger is recommended for un guyed mast over 6 long or where large anten nas are used If guy wires are used fasten two through each of the two holes of the lower clamp Step 2 Rotator Unit Rotator
