SONY Business Displays and Solutions EBS N100 Setup Guide Purpose This document is a set up instruction guide for the EBS N100 unit and using it with Display Commander Known issues of this pre release version of Display Commander are included at the end of the document Components 1 EBS N100 1 AC Adapter for EBS N100 1 RS232C cable Loading Display Commander Software The Display Commander software is included in an e mail attachment This software extends the control set of the EBS N100 from individual unit control to group controls Connections Connecting EBS N100 to Sony Professional Monitor 1 RS232C Cable RGB RS232 AUDIO IN a Attach the 9 pin RS232C Cable to the port Q labeled COM1 on the EBS N100 b Attach the other end to the REMOTE input on PLASMA DISPLAY the Sony Monitor EA Connecting the EBS N100 to a Network Router 2 1 CAT5 Cable L a Plug the RJ45 connector into the back of the EBS N1 00 POWER b Plug the other end of the CAT5 cable into a LAN port on the router ETHERNET SWITCH ROUTER PORT 1 PORT2 PORT3 PORT 4 Power Up 1 Plug in the AC Adapter for the EBS N100 INTERNET Configuration The EBS N100 can be controlled and configured in two ways The first is using the Display Commander application to identify and control the EBS N100 unit The second is through an embedded HIML Interface page for configuration a
3. desired IP address Subnet Mask and Default Gateway and document below IP Address PF IL JE IL Select Submit and Restart to reboot the unit for the new IP Address to take effect Configuring the Unit Before you begin using the EBS N100 you must enter the display type and model to which it is connected The controls available in the user interface EBS N100 software directly correspond to the SONY Business Displays and Solutions display type and model that you select To enter the display type and model perform the following steps e Inthe Device field select the type of display to which the EBS N100 is connected e Inthe Model field select the model of the device e Inthe Location field enter the location of the EBS N100 such as a room number or a conference room This information is helpful to identify the EBS N100 unit e Click the Submit button The controls available on the user interface will directly correspond to the selected display and model Controlling a Display Once configured for a particular display device the EBS N100 may be used to control display parameters An example web page used for display control is shown below The actual controls available are dependent upon the particular display model Sections in the HTML Control Main Page Status Windows Device Product Type Model Model of Product Location User defined ID IP Address Network Address EBS N100 Name User Defi

6. ned Status Status of Display Buttons Power Input Selection Picture Mode color settings Aspect Ratio Zoom SONY Business Displays and Solutions Picture Settings Reset Picture return to default Reset Audio return to default Reset Size return to default More Settings Color Settings Cool Warm etc Color Systems Auto NTSC PAL Maintenance This section allows the immediate performance of maintenance or to schedule timed maintenance functions on a display Energy Savings Standard normal brightness Reduced approx 30 less bright Picture Inversion This feature reverses the blacks and whites to counter act the affects of image retention on Plasmas Using a static image of text or logos can cause image retention By using inversion the effects are minimized by reversing the image This function can be scheduled to be performed at night or after hours when the display is not viewed Orbit Another method of reducing image retention is to use Orbit which will move the image in a slight shifted pattern and therefore minimize the static placement of images SONY Business Displays and Solutions Configure This page is used for basic and advanced configuration options for the EBS N100 lt is from this page that the connected product type is selected and user identified information can be included Network seitings allow for the IP of the selected EBS N100 to
