6. prevent damage to your health SELECTING SANDING DISCS Selecting the correct size grit and type sanding disc is an extremely important step in achieving a high quality sanded finish Aluminum oxide silicon carbide and other synthetic abrasives are best for power sanding Natural abrasives such as flint and garnet are too soft for use in power sanding In general coarse grit will remove the most material and finer grit will produce the best finish in all sanding operations The condition of the surface to be sanded will determine which grit will do the job If the surface is rough start with a coarse grit and sand until the surface is uniform Medium grit may then be used to remove scratches left by the coarser grit and finer grit used for finishing of the surface Always continue sanding with each grit until surface is uniform OPERATION ATTACHING ADHESIVE SANDING DISCS ADHESIVE See Figure 2 i SANDING DISC E Unplug the sander E Peel the paper backing from the sanding disc E Align the holes in the sanding disc with the holes in the backing pad NOTE Line up the holes in the sanding disc with the holes in the backing pad in order for the dustless feature to function properly E Press the sticky side of the sanding disc against the backing pad as firmly as possible NOTE It is recommend that you clean the backing pad occasionally by brushing it lightly with a small brush Dust buildup on the backing pad could cause the s

SE Fig 8 OPERATION OPERATING THE SANDER See Figures 9 10 E Secure the work to prevent it from moving under the sander A WARNING Unsecured work could be thrown towards the operator causing injury E Place the sander on the workpiece so that all of the sand ing disc surface is in contact with the workpiece A CAUTION Be careful not to let your hand cover the air vents E Start the sander and move it slowly over the workpiece M Make successive passes in parallel lines circles or crosswise movements NOTE The front edge of the sander allows for flush sanding E Turn the sander off and wait until the sanding disc comes to a complete stop before removing it from the workpiece A WARNING Before connecting the sander to power supply source always check to be sure the switch is not in the ON position Failure to do so could result in accidental starting of the sander resulting in possible serious injury Do not press down on the sander The weight of the unit supplies adequate pressure so let the sanding disc and sander do the work Applying additional pressure only slows the motor rapidly wears sanding disc and greatly reduces sander speed Excessive pressure will overload the motor causing possible damage from motor overheating and can result in inferior work Any finish or resin on wood may soften from the frictional heat Do not allow sanding on one spot too long as the sand
8. anding disc to not stick properly ATTACHING HOOK AND LOOP SANDING DISCS BACKING PAD See Figure 3 E lug th Unplug the sander HOOK AND E Peel the paper backing from the conversion pad LOOP SANDING E Align the holes in the conversion pad with the holes in DISC the backing pad NOTE Line up the holes in the conversion pad with the holes in the backing pad in order for the dustless feature ae to function properly E Press the sticky side of the conversion pad against the backing pad as firmly as possible E Align the holes in the hook and loop sanding disc with the holes in the conversion pad NOTE Line up the holes in the sanding disc with the holes in the conversion pad in order for the dustless feature to function properly E Press the fuzzy side of the sanding disc against the conversion pad as firmly as possible NOTE You can reuse hook and loop type sanding discs for the life of the sanding abrasive We recommend that you clean the conversion pad occasionally by brushing it lightly with a small brush to provide for their best adhesion BACKING PAD 10 OPERATION TURNING THE SANDER ON OFF See Figure 4 Follow these directions to turn the sander on and off inn ON E To turn the sander on Slide the switch to the left Y E To turn the sander off Slide the switch to the right O EY VARIABLE W SPEED DIAL ADJUSTING THE SPEED See Figures 4 5 The variable speed feature allows the san

13. der to operate at speeds that can be adjusted by rotating the dial from A to F The dial is conveniently located on the motor housing allowing operator control of disc speed E To increase the speed Turn the dial to a higher setting towards F E To decrease the speed Turn the dial to a lower setting towards A A WARNING To prevent the possibility of sanding dust or foreign objects being thrown into the face or eyes never attempt to use the sander without the dust bag properly installed Sanding dust or foreign objects being thrown into the face could result in possible serious personal injury TO DUSTLESS SANDING The dust bag assembly provides a dust collection system for the sander Sanding dust is drawn up through the holes of the sanding disc to collect in the dust bag during sanding operation NOTE For more efficient operation empty dust bag when no more than half full This will permit the air to flow through the bag better 11 OPERATION TO ATTACH THE DUST BAG ASSEMBLY See Figure 6 E Unplug the sander E Slide the dust bag assembly onto the blower exhaust on the sander using a slight twisting motion TO EMPTY THE DUST BAG ASSEMBLY See Figures 6 7 For more efficient operation empty the dust bag when itis no more than half full This will permit the air to flow through the bag better Always empty and clean the dust bag thoroughly upon completion of a sanding operation and before p
