Recalls the number stored in memory Subtracts the number from the number stored in memory Adds a number to memory 4 z l Changes the number on the screen to o a negative or positive number x Calculates a percentage cy Calculates a square root To View a Demonstration You can view a demonstration of this product to famil iarize yourself with its features Press MENU use w to DEMO and press ENTER Press CLEAR at any time to stop the demonstration Getting Started Installing the Battery Your unit uses 1 CR 2016 3 volt lithium battery Important Before you follow these steps please have the new battery at hand You will also need a small Phillips screwdriver one that fits into screws with an x notch 1 Turn the unit off and turn it over 2 Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw on the battery cover and then remove the cover 3 Remove the old battery and insert the new one with the positive side facing up 4 Replace the battery cover and the screw Warning If the battery wears out completely or if you take more than a few seconds while changing the battery any user entered information will be erased You should always keep writ ten copies of your important information To Set the Message Language 5 The first time you use this translator you are prompted to select a message language 1 Press On Off 2 Press E for English S for Spanish F for French D for German or for Italian
6. er 1 2 3 4 5 6 Press twice Use to select a conversion category and press ENTER Use Y repeatedly to scroll through the conver sions i e C gt F and then press ENTER Follow the instructions on the screen to con vert and press ENTER To make another conversion press BACK To return to the conversions list press BACK again Converting Money The first time you select the money converter you will be asked to set the exchange rate equal to one unit of the home currency Type an exchange rate and press ENTER Next use w or to select a conversion e g Home other Press ENTER then enter the amount to be converted To change the conversion rate select Money from the Conversions menu select Set Rate and type in a new rate 18 Playing the Games To Play Hangman Hangman selects a mystery word and lets you try to guess it letter by letter 1 3 4 Press MENU Use W or to select GAMES and press ENTER Use until Hangman displays and press ENTER Type your guesses The s represent letters of the mystery word The numbers show how many guesses remain Press ENTER to show the word and end the round Press ENTER again to play a new round To Play Quiz Quiz tests your translation skills Note to change the language for Quiz you must change the source lan guage before you play Please see To Change the Source and Target Language 1
7. he screen contrast only at the display screen 10 Storing Names and Phone Numbers This product has a databank that can save as many as 100 names and phone numbers The total amount of names and numbers that you can save depends upon the number of characters in each entry To Add an Entry to the Phone List 1 Press Use w to see New Entry 2 Press ENTER 3 Type a name and then press ENTER Each name can contain up to 30 characters includ ing spaces with letters appearing as capitals Note Accented characters are not supported in the phone list To delete a character press BACK or 4 To type a space press P To type a hyphen an apostrophe or a period press P then press 4 repeatedly until the desired character is displayed 4 Use the numbered keys to type a phone num ber and then press ENTER To type a hyphen between the parts of a phone number press gt then press 4 repeatedly until the hyphen is displayed 11 Note You cannot type letters in a phone number To View the Phone List Press C7 Use Y or 4 if needed to see View List and then press ENTER To view a name type it or use V The name and number are displayed To view another entry use Y or 4 or start to type a name To Edit Phone List Entries Press F7 Use V or 4 if needed to see Edit Entry then press ENTER Type the name you want to edit or use Y or to select it then press ENTER Follow t
8. he instructions on the screen Press BACK to delete characters Type your changes and then press ENTER until the entry is changed To cancel the edit press F7 Press BACK to return to the phone list options 12 Keep Copies of Important Data Warning Your phone list information is safely stored in memory as long as the battery supplies power However if the battery loses all power this informa tion will be permanently lost Always keep written copies of your important information To Delete an Entry from the Phone List Press Press ENTER to select Delete Entry Press V until you see the entry that you want to delete Press ENTER Press Y to delete the entry or N to cancel the deletion To Erase All the Phone List Entries Warning This procedure permanently erases all the names and numbers in your phone list 1 Press 7 2 Ive Ar until you see Era all data and then press ENTER Press Y to erase all the entries or N to cancel the operation Checking the Memory To see how much memory is free in the phone list press A and then use W to see Databank Free XX 13 Using a Password You can use a password to keep the information in the Phone List private The password is requested when the unit is turned on and the Phone List is accessed Password Warnings Warning After you set the password you must enter the password to access the phone list for the first time during a

10. not fit on the screen press gt repeatedly Press BACK to return to the list Press CLEAR for a new search Typing Special Characters You can type accent marks diacritical marks non English letters and capital letters but they are not needed to find matches Special characters can be typed by first typing the desired letter and then repeatedly pressing Y or until the desired character is displayed To type a punctuation mark press P then press W or repeatedly until the desired character is displayed 9 Translating Phrases Note The phrases in this product are listed in the cur rent source language 1 Press Use W or to scroll to a category For example choose Doing Business Press ENTER Use W or to scroll to a phrase and press ENTER to see its translation To see a phrase that does not fit on the screen press P repeatedly Press BACK to return to the list Press CLEAR return to the category menu Correcting Misspellings If you misspell a word in any language or if you enter a word that is not contained in this translator a list of corrections is displayed Use W or amp to scroll to a correctly spelled word and press ENTER Follow the Arrows The flashing arrows at the right of the screen show which arrow keys you can press to view more words To Adjust the Screen Contrast Press amp 9 and use or to lighten or darken the screen contrast Note You can adjust t
