2. 7 VARIABLE SPEED Speed is adjusted two ways 1 With switch A Fig 4 in the locked ON position use thumbwheel C Fig 5 to adjust the speed approximately 1000 RPM to 3000 RPM 2 Switch A Fig 4 can also be used to adjust the speed O RPM to approximately 3000 RPM with maximum speed depending on the position of thumbwheel C Fig 5 USING POLISHER 1 If item to be polished is light enough to be moved by the rotating polishing pad it should be securely anchored to prevent possible bodily injury 2 Hold polisher firmly by the rear and auxiliary handles see Fig 6 making sure polishing pad is clear of work and foreign objects Start polisher and lower at an angle so that approximately 12 or slightly less of the polishing pad contacts the work 3 Move polisher in long continuous sweeping strokes DO NOT HOLD POLISHER IN ONE SPOT as this will create heat and possibly damage surface being polished 4 Lift polisher from work before turning off motor 5 Always be sure motor has stopped before setting polisher down 6 When using polisher to apply products polishes waxes cleaners etc always Read and follow directions supplied with product Start and stop polisher with pad against work surface do not run polisher while pad is not in contact with work surface Fig 6 EN 293141 0930 01 qxd 2 15 02 3 31 AM Rage 8 Ny POLISHING TIPS USE ONLY QUALITY POLISH MADE FOR P

OWER POLISHING APPLICATION and apply per manufacturer s instructions For best results thoroughly clean surface to be polished When polishing automobiles wash the car thoroughly to remove dust dirt and other abrasives that may scratch the finish Buffs or pads may become gummed up after a period of use They may be washed out with soap and water Shake out as much water as possible and then spin dry on machine Do this in an area where you will not splatter articles MAINTENANCE KEEP TOOL CLEAN Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth NEVER use solvents to clean plastic parts They could possibly dissolve or otherwise damage the material CAUTION Wear safety glasses while using compressed air FAILURE TO START Should your tool fail to start check to make sure the prongs on the cord plug are making good contact in the outlet Also check for blown fuses or open circuit breakers in the line LUBRICATION This tool has been lubricated with a sufficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the unit under normal operating conditions No further lubrication is necessary BRUSH INSPECTION AND LUBRICATION For your continued safety and electrical protection brush inspection and replacement on this tool should ONLY be performed by an AUTHORIZED PORTER CABLE SERVICE STATION or a PORTER CABLE DELTA SERVICE CENTER At approximately 100 h
