Environmental Tips You do not need to use a pre wash cycle or soak for washing with av erage soiling This saves detergent water and time and protects the environment When loaded to the capacities indicated the washing machine is es pecially efficient For small loads use only one half to two thirds of the recommended quantity of detergent By pre treating stains and marks you will be able to wash at a lower temperature e t is often possible to wash without using softener Give it a try If you use a drier your washing will be soft and fluffy even without a softener For medium to high water hardness from hardness range Il see De tergents and Conditioners you should use water softener The detergent can then always be dosed as for hardness range soft Switching on the appliance for the first time setting the language d When switching on the appliance for the first time you must set the language in which you want the indicators in the display to appear 1 Turn the appliance on by pressing the control knob so that it is no longer flush in the control panel The display in the middle of the control panel will illumi nate and the appliance is switched on The selection of possible languages will appear in the right of the display Important If the display is not showing any languages the appliance has already been switched on once In such case go to the chapter Change

21. white remnants on the washing These are insoluble components of modern detergents They are not the result of an insufficient rinsing effect Shake or brush out the washing In future perhaps you should turn the washing inside out before washing it Examine your choice of de tergent and if necessary use liquid detergent 47 48 Carrying out emergency drainage N o Fold open the flap in the right sec Remove the emergency drainage Place the container under the hose Detach the plug of the emergency e f the washing machine no longer pumps off the washing solution emergency drainage must be performed e f the washing machine is in a room where there is a risk of frost emergency drainage must be performed if there is a possibility of frost In addition unscrew the inlet hose form the water tap and place it on the floor Empty the drainage hose Warning Switch off the washing machine before performing emer gency drainage and pull out the mains plug Caution The washing solution escaping from the emergency drainage hose may be hot There is a risk of scalding Allow the washing solution to cool down before performing emergency drainage Place a flat collecting vessel in order to collect the washing solution which is draining off tion of the base outwards and pull it off hose from its holder drainage hose by turning it anti clockwis
