HAS BEEN FIRED UP Allow the drum to revolve and mix the product until it reaches a temperature of 150 degrees centigrade 302 degrees fahrenheit This takes approximately 6 minutes depending on the ambient temperature Once the mixture has been heated to this temperature the burner should be switched off and returned to its transit position The drum is then tipped forward by means of two hydraulic rams so that the performance grade asphalt can be poured in to a wheelbarrow for use ALWAYS Ensure that the Isolation Switch located next to the battery is turned off after shutting down Roadmender NEVER Leave Roadmender unattended whilst in operation Operating Roadmender Turn on the Isolation Switch located next to the battery in the engine compartment Start engine with ignition key and allow it to warm up for five minutes e Turn on Beacon Open the hydraulically assisted door and burner lever 3 Fill the drum with the required number of 20kg premixed bags For optimum performance only eleven bags should be heated at a time Close the hydraulically assisted door and burner lever 3 The burner will not fire up until it is firmly closed T3 e ENGINE TEMP Speed Control for all Hydraulic Activity Clockwise Slow Anti clockwise Fast Lift rotation lever lever 2 to start drum revolving Switch on Timer Reset Turn on Burner Switch e Periodically check the tempera

4. performed at the Operators own risk Operators interacting with Roadmender must be aware of the instructions in this User and Service Manual and must wear the correct Operator Personal Protective Equipment see page 9 Roadmender must NEVER be left unattended when in use Tk lt FE Te e a HAE Ee UEBASe Installation Instructions Roadmender is delivered in an assembled state Before it can be used it should be setup and prepared as per this Manual s instructions Roadmender must only be operated when permanently fixed or temporarily secured to a double axle trailer so as to ensure that there is no movement whilst in operation Recommended Maintenance The general maintenance of Roadmender includes Greasing of all moving parts including grease nipples Checking oil and water levels in engine General Engine Machine maintenance Ensuring nozzle in burner is kept clean Testing emergency stops on a regular basis to ensure they are functioning correctly General Operation The operation of Roadmender involves the filling of the drum with 20kg degradable plastic bags of specially prepared asphalt mix The maximum load that the drum can hold is 250kg When starting from cold allow engine to heat up for five minutes before loading the drum The burner is hydraulically lowered into position at the front of the drum and fired up ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE DRUM IS ROTATING ONCE THE BURNER
5. ture OF THE MIX Raise the door lever 3 which will automatically turn off the burner Stop drum rotation lever 2 Point a laser AT THE MIX and not at the surrounding steel Lower the door and burner back into the closed position lever 3 which will automatically re start the burner Re start drum rotation lever 2 jj Pi e After approximately 6 minutes depending on the ambient temperature when the mixture has reached the required temperature of 150 degrees centigrade 302 degrees fahrenheit the burner should be raised lever 3 If thick white smoke is escaping from the chimney the mix has been over heated e Stop the drum revolving lever 2 and switch off the Burner Switch e Tilt the drum forward lever 1 and restart drum rotation lever 2 in order to pour the heated mixture into a wheel barrow hy 4 J CHARGE gt j wn In case of emergency push either of the Emergency Stop Buttons to shut down the engine To restart Roadmender reset the Emergency Stop Button by turning it to the right e To shut down Roadmender turn off the Ignition and turn all switches into the OFF position including the Battery Isolation Switch Roadmender must NEVER be left unattended when in use o o Di Timer The Timer is set to turn off Roadmender automatically after a certain length of time in the event that it is inadvertently left on The Timer should therefore not be tampered wit
