1. Handling Precautions ile This camera is waterproof to a depth Ps m 16 ft underwater as long as the bottom cover is fully closed If used underwater at the beach or exposed to salt spray sand or dust it can be cleaned by holding the body under gentle running clean tap water Dry the camera with a clean dry cloth Never expose the camera to water when the bottom cover is not fully closed and latched Store the camera in a cool dry dust free place Be sure to keep the camera out of direct sunlight and away from hot spots such as the trunk or rear window shelf of a car Avoid places where mothballs are used and use a desiccant in excessive humidity Do not attempt to disassemble the camera yourself since there is high voltage circuitry inside The battery may explode or cause burns if disassembled recharged shorted exposed to high temperatures or disposed of in a fire Use a blower brush to remove dust and sand from the lens and inside the camera Do not apply any fluids other than water to the lens or body Take the camera to an authorized Canon service facility for a more thorough cleaning if necessary Film passing through X ray examinations at an airport may be exposed and ruined even when loaded in the camera Hequest a different method of inspection to avoid damage Color reproduction may be adversely affected if the film is left in the camera for a long time Always develop exposed

3. commercially SN 1 Check the O ring e Carefully check that the O ring O ring groove and contact surface are free from cracks warping and soiling e f there is any soiling on the O ring or contact surface clean the area thoroughly Clean the O ring Push gently on the O ring so that it pops out of its groove and then remove it Use a moistened cotton bud to remove any soiling from the O ring groove and contact surface Wash the O ring with clean water wipe off any moisture and fit the O ring into its groove e Check that the O ring is securely inserted into the groove e Do not pull or stretch the O ring excessively e The O ring is specially treated Ensure that it does not come into contact with grease or oil e Do not use a sharp or pointed instrument to remove the O ring as this could damage it and cause leakage Take particular care to ensure that the O ring is not excessively twisted as this will cause leakage e If the O ring is cut damaged or distorted take your camera to an authorized Canon service facility for a replacement O ring price available on application The O ring should also be replaced two years after the date the camera was purchased regardless of whether the O ring is damaged If the camera is frequently used underwater or in sandy or dusty locations the O ring should be replaced yearly Data recorded on film example Date and title Print

Mode The flash will not fire even in low light conditions Use this mode where flash photography is prohibited for night views or for available light photography ME Ta abr JM L it LE Set the dial to amp Take the picture Q Because a slow shutter speed is used up to 1 2 seconds when the flash is set to Flash OFF mode in low light conditions take care to avoid camera shake When the orange indicator blinks camera shake warning use a tripod or other means to hold the camera steady H This mode is effective when taking pictures of people with an evening or nocturnal background Flash and i slow shutter speed are effectively combined so that the flash illuminates the subject and the slow shutter speed captures the distant background Set the dial to EX When 9 appears on the LCD panel take the picture Q Because a slow shutter speed up to 1 2 seconds is used in this mode always use a tripod to prevent camera shake Take care also to ensure that the subject does not move in the moment after the flash 3 fires Fl The red eye reduction function operates when the mode is set to B In some conditions AUTO mode 29 may give better results For this reason it is best to take the shot in both Fi mode and AUTO mode 3 55 Lock the focus when you want the subject of your shot to be off to one side of the frame Set the focus Pos
