1. 2 I Group Number 10 01 005 Subject Date 2007MY ACCENT MC ECM UPDATE JANUARY 2010 CAMPAIGN T72 Model 2007 ACCENT MC CIRCULATE TO NOTE This bulletin supersedes TSB 08 01 030 for campaign T72 to update it to use a more recent GDS data of Event 179 IMPORTANT DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR IMPORTANT WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA S WARRANTY VEHICLE INFORMATION SCREEN VIA DCS ON LINE WEBDCS TO IDENTIFY OPEN CAMPAIGNS DESCRIPTION This bulletin provides the procedure to update the Engine software of 2007 ACCENT MC 1 6L vehicles to prevent various check engine light incidents APPLICABLE VEHICLES Model 2007 ACCENT MC vehicles with 1 6L gasoline engines Applicable vehicle production date range e April 7 2006 to June 15 2007 VIN Range e KMHCM36C17U000303 KMHCN46C87U166577 NOTE To verify the vehicle is affected be sure to check the version of the vehicle s control unit ROM ID with reference to the ROM ID Information Table mentioned below before attempting to update the control unit software Page 1 of 6 ROM ID INFORMATION TABLE 2007 M T 39111 26BE0 39111 26BE5 GMC 7N6CESO0 5000 GMC 7N6CES1 5000 GMC 7N6CES2 5000 GMC 7N6CES3 5000 GMC 7N6CES4 5000 GMC 7N6CESA 5000 GMC 7N6CES5 5000 GMC 7N6CES6 5000 GMC 7N6CES7 5000 GMC 7N6CES

K MC MT 39111 26BE0 O7MY 1260 Au MC AT 39111 26BE5 O7MY 12650 4 The vehicle battery voltage is checked to make sure it is at least 12 volts to ensure reliable update results Click OK if the results indicate Voltage is OK NOTE If voltage is below 12 volts click Cancel and then run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable update results 5 Update will begin and the progress of the update will appear on the bar graph 6 Updating will occur until 100 is reached on the bar graph Turn the ignition key OFF for 10 seconds place it back in the ON position and then click OK to continue according to Information displayed on the screen 7 Click OK on the final screen which indicates update is complete 8 Check if any incidental Diagnostic Trouble Codes DTC have been created by the update and clear the DTC s present 9 Start the engine to confirm proper operation of the vehicle WARRANTY INFORMATION TABLE 2o07 woB0sIRO PCMUPGRADE oam NOTE Submit claim in the Campaign Claim Entry Scrren Page 6 of 6
3. the progress of the update will appear on the bar graph 11 Updating will occur until 100 is reached on the bar graph Turn the ignition key OFF for 10 seconds place it back in the ON position and then click OK to continue according to Information displayed on the screen 12 Click OK on the final screen which indicates update is complete 13 Check if any incidental Diagnostic Trouble Codes DTC have been created by the update and clear the DTC s present 14 Start the engine to confirm proper operation of the vehicle 2 0 GDS MANUAL UPDATE PROCEDURE EVENT 179 NOTE Manual Mode is intended to be used only if Event 179 Auto Mode Update had failed after the progress bar began during the update IMPORTANT e Pull out the ECM fuse from the engine compartment junction box or disconnect the battery negative cable to reset the control unit before performing manual update e If ECM Update still does not succeed then disconnect the ECM connectors for 10 minutes and retry the ECM Update 1 Turn the ignition key back to the ON position 2 Within the ECU Upgrade screen select Manual Mode in the left column then select Update Event 179 Select the appropriate control unit part number with reference to the ROM ID Information Table and click OK NOTE Do not select IMMO part numbers as vehicles in USA do not have immobilizer Page 5 of 6 3 Enter the appropriate Event 179 password from the table below and then click
4. 8 5000 GMC 7N6CPS0 A000 GMC 7N6CPS1 A000 GMC 7N6CPS2 A000 GMC 7N6CPS3 A000 GMC 7N6CPS4 A000 GMC 7N6CPSA A000 GMC 7N6CPS5 A000 GMC 7N6CPS6 A000 GMC 7N6CPS7 A000 GMC 7N6CPS8 A000 GMC 7N6CES9 5000 GMC 7N6CPS9 A000 Page 2 of 6 Technical Service cru i HYUNDAI Bulletin CAMPAIGN 10 01 005 GDS SYSTEM AND ECM UPDATE PRECAUTIONS CAUTION Please ensure the following items for the ECM update e Make sure the vehicle s battery has reasonable charge If the vehicle has been in storage for days run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable update results The ECM Update procedure contains a check to ensure that battery voltage is above 12 volts to allow the procedure to occur e The USB cable must be used for ECM Update between the GDS and VCI the procedure will not work in VCI wireless mode Make sure the GDS laptop battery indicator in the lower right tray icon has 20 or more charge remaining Charge the laptop battery with the AC adaptor cable if lower Turn off all lamps do not leave head lamp switch in auto mode and all accessories including heater A C blower radio seat warmer defroster etc to prevent battery discharge during the update e Perform update with the ignition switch in the ON position e Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or scan tool during the update e Do not start the engine during update e Do not turn off the ignition swit
5. ch during update e Make sure that the latest internet download has been performed to GDS Page 3 of 6 GDS AUTOMATIC UPDATE PROCEDURE EVENT 179 1 Choose VIN or ECU Upgrade on the initial screen 2 Enter the vehicle information by pressing the VIN Auto Detect button entering the vehicle s VIN or selecting the vehicle model model year engine fuel type and ENGINE as the system and then click OK 3 Select ECU Upgrade on the initial screen after entering the vehicle information 4 Select Auto Mode then ENGINE in the left ECU Upgrade column 5 Read Preparation and click OK 6 The GDS will read the vehicle s ROM ID NOTE If the following error message appears during ROM ID read it means Event 179 had already been completed so this TSB does not apply for ECM Update Information The ECU Upgrade has already been completed 7 After the Current ROM ID is displayed select the Update Event 179 8 After clicking the Upgrade button read Information then click OK Page 4 of 6 Technical Service c YS HYUNDAI Bulletin CAMPAIGN Number 10 01 005 9 The vehicle battery voltage is checked to make sure it is at least 12 volts to ensure reliable update results Click OK if the results indicate Voltage is OK NOTE If voltage is below 12 volts click Cancel and then run the engine at idle at least 10 minutes to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable update results 10 Update will begin and
